Changes to Hope Kids Ministry

There are some very exciting things happening in Hope Kids this year! I want to take a moment to fill you in on all that is going on.

First of all, we are having a Hope Kids Working Bee this Saturday, Feb 18th, from 9am to 4pm. We want to put some focus on our children’s areas at church and would love you to come and help out and be a blessing to our much loved Hope Kids. We would like as many as possible to come help out for any length of time that suits you during the day. There will be lots to do from shifting, sorting, cleaning and painting!

On Sunday, Feb 12th, we had a meeting after each service to outline some changes that are taking place this year in Hope Kids. For those who missed being at one of these meetings here is a brief update.

Starting with the youngest reaching ministry, Little Bambinos (0-2), this will now be a parent/caregiver lounge. It will be located downstairs, through the door by the kitchen and there will be a sleep room and plenty of space to explore and play while parents can watch the live feed.

Echo will continue on under the leadership of Bryony Simmons who is doing a phenomenal job for children between the ages of 2-5 years old. Thank you to the team in this space we love that the children are happy and settled there and it is obvious they are learning some age appropriate bible stories and concepts. This ministry is downstairs with the outside playground and can be accessed at the rear of the auditorium on the left side.

Transformers and Firestarters will now become Hope Kids Church and will be in the upstairs room which was Little Bambinos. This will essentially now be a children’s church for 5-12 year olds. Think fun, high energy with worship, games, multimedia, small group activates and craft.

We want to take a moment to thank both Jen Machell and Jenna Smith for their service in leading Transformers and Firestarters. They have done an excellent job and along with their teams have been loving and investing into our Hope Kids. They are now stepping out of these roles so we have some big shoes to fill!

We are excited to inform you that Susie Murray will be joining Hope Kids, leading what was Transformers age group (5 & 6 year olds) Susie is hugely creative and has a massive heart for young people and we are confident will be a wonderful addition to our team.

We are currently looking for a new leader for the 7–12 year old age group and also the long term plan is to appoint a Children’s Pastor to oversee all our Hope Kids ministries as well as pastoring the children and working with their families.

We also need a fresh infusion of passionate volunteers for this brand new Hope Kids Church ministry. We are asking all parents to consider being part of your children’s early church experience and anyone else who has a passion for kid’s ministry to come on board with what is a very rewarding ministry. You will not be required to serve many Sundays in a year but your contribution will make a huge difference in the Hope Kids ministry and in our little ones lives.

So there is a bit of an update on all that is happening at Hope Kids. If you have any questions or ideas for this new ministry, please talk to me or one of the team. Don’t forget the Working Bee this Saturday as we aim to get everything ready for the Sunday launch and to make our children’s experience at church the best it can be!
